Horg

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Horg of the Crying Trees was a member of the Tribe of Gum.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Originally a "great leader of many men", (TV: An Unearthly Child) Horg later became the chief warrior of Gor. (PROSE: Doctor Who and an Unearthly Child)

Horg was the father of Hur. As her father, he could "give her" to whomever he wished her to be with. He was a great leader of many men, who died in the cold, after which he joined the Tribe of Gum.

Whilst Za spent all of his time attempting and failing to make fire, Kal supplied the tribe with meat, prompting Horg and the rest of the old men to consider having Kal as their leader instead. In this instance, he planned to give Hur to Kal. (TV: An Unearthly Child)

The secret of fire[[edit] | [edit source]]

Horg led the tribe in an uprising after Za took too long to secure the secret of firemaking from the First Doctor, Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, although Hur attempted to prevent it. However, Horg backed down and acknowledged Za as his leader after he emerged from the Cave of Skulls with a flaming torch.

As Za was now the undisputed leader, Horg had no issue with giving his daughter to her. He was later among the tribe members who pursued the four strangers after their escape. He saw them enter the TARDIS, which vanished before their eyes. (TV: An Unearthly Child)

Immortality and death[[edit] | [edit source]]

Shortly after, the tribe met the Prometheans, whose gift of "burning stone" led to them becoming effectively immortal. Horg styled himself as Horg of the Crying Trees and died with the rest of the tribe in 2013 after turning against the Prometheans. (COMIC: Hunters of the Burning Stone)

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Horg was once the leader of his own tribe and worried that the Tribe of Gum would meet the same fate as his own. As a result, he was more trusting of Kal and believing of his claims than Hur and Za, trusting that he had seen men make fire and that Orb would teach him the secret. (TV: An Unearthly Child)

Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]

Horg was a burly man with a grey beard. (PROSE: Doctor Who and an Unearthly Child)
