Biology[[edit] | [edit source]]
Stegosaurus was a heavily built dinosaur with a back protected by twin rows of kite-shaped bony plates. It had a small head, a humped back, and a tail with long spikes that it carried high in the air. Stegosaurus measured about 12 metres long and weighed roughly 5 metric tons.
Stegosaurus had a remarkably small brain for a dinosaur and relied on its impressive tail spikes rather than cunning to keep it alive. This so-called thagomizer comprised four sharpened spikes, more than enough to give would-be predators pause for thought. The creature is quite nimble for its size, capable of using its spiked tail to terrible effect. Stegosaurus was a grazer and usually fed on mosses and ferns common to the Jurassic period. Stegosaurus preferred the company of others of its kind, travelling in herds whenever possible. (PROSE: Prehistory Repeating Itself [+]Loading...["Prehistory Repeating Itself (feature)"])
