Stephen Thorne (2 March 1935-26 May 2019[1]) appeared in several Doctor Who productions, including The Hand of Fear, in which he acted out the "true" form of the Kastrian villain Eldrad. He also read the novelisation of The Myth Makers for BBC Audio.

Christopher Barry also considered Thorne for the role of Condo in The Brain of Morbius. (TCH 24)

He shared his memories of his Doctor Who career on the 191st edition of Big Finish's charity podcast series Toby Hadoke's Who's Round and the documentaries I Was a Doctor Who Monster!, Happy Birthday to Who and Changing Time: Living and Leaving Doctor Who.

David J. Howe dedicated his novelisation of the 2004 direct-to-DVD drama Dæmos Rising to "the Voice of the Dæmons, the magnificent Stephen Thorne", saying "His voice was echoing through my head as I wrote this book! RIP."
