tried asking this just now but went wrong. I been thinking about this for a couple years, what if a powerful, new but ancient extra-dimensional enemy (whom I've dubed "the Chaos-Lords") was behind almost every major event the Doctor has faced, including and starting with the "Time War", as part of some long term masterplan to destroy all creation, by secretly manlipulating everyone, for their own destructive ends, (what with Daleks' reality bomb and the Time Lords' "final sanction") maybe the Doctor(s) along with the Dalek (as unexpected allies) will finally face them in the anniversary final? 86.154.177.150 14:53, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Well there's not any evidence that this will happen at all. If they were to do this it would have to be something we've seen before like the Beast or the Black Guardian but they will almost definetly not do that, and the Doctor will never be allies with the daleks.

Anyway, any "Chaos Lords" wouldn't be interested in destroying the universe. No universe, no chaos. The Black Guardian is the personification of chaos, and draws power from chaos in the universe. But I don't think he'd actually want the universe destroyed, and somewhere or other (I forget where) it was pointed out that the heat death of the universe--all the existing matter spread out with maximal entropy--is his ultimate and inevitable triumph.

I suppose you could make a case for one of the other Guardians. For example, the Azure Guardian is the personification of equilibrium, and a completely empty universe would be in perfect equilibrium, with neither entropy (chaos, Black Guardian) nor enthalpy (order, White Guardian).

Also, the Guardians chose a set of elite Eternals (possibly, but not necessarily, the same ones who already personify aspects of the universe like Time, Death, etc.) to take on their function in the next universe that will follow this one. Maybe one of them has chosen to try to usurp the Guardians by destroying the universe early (like trying to bring about Ragnarök or Armageddon early in other mythologies).

Or maybe Grandfather Paradox just thought it would be fun to utterly destroy the Web of Time instead of playing little games with it.

This might have nothing to do with Doctor Who, the parent series. There are occasional links with Torchwood here - Weevils expected, a star whale (The Cardiff lot found one of those in Meat), halluconogenic lipstick harking back to Captain John Hart, vortex manipulator.

Maybe something from that series is going to play with the Big Boys!
