Forum:Mini-bios in cast lists
Been away for awhile and for the most part like what's been happening with the wiki. However, I notice some of the stories, especially the Pertwee ones, have mini-bios for the characters stuck in the cast sections. Whose idea was this? The cast list should be just that, a cast list, as in who played who (whom? Who?). Putting "the Third Doctor does this" and "Liz Shaw does that" under each actor and the character(s) they played makes this section harder to read and would be better placed in the Story Notes or Continuity sections. Is whoever started this planning to do it for each uncredited part as well? These should be reverted back to the original format per the Manual of Style. - I'll put my hand up and admit that I did (some of) it (but in my defence my comments were only about 5 words long) and were mainly things too tedious (and lacking in detail) to fit into the references or Notes section. I don't think there's anything wrong with (small) pieces of information in the cast list; just side notes as you're reading through the list. --Tangerineduel 04:00, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- If it's so tedious and vague that it can't go in the Notes I'm not sure it should go anywhere. I've glanced through this to see exactly what's under discussion and everything I've found seems either Note-worthy or the kind of information that'll be replicated elsewhere on the wiki (ideally). The opinions of Freethinker1of1 and Gai-jin have carried the day on the wiki. Cast lists are just lists.
