Howling:Tardis?

---No, it was too poorly built. It would have to be an amateur who built it. Well, a group of amateurs. The autopilot, I think, suggests organisation-type thinking. Question is, how did they know to make it? They must have gotten Timelord tech somehow. I would say either the cracks allowed whomever built it to obtain this info, or they are somehow involved in causing the cracks. - Time rotor in the middle, 4 stations (instead of 6) around the sides of it, recovery protocols the Doctor recognizes, bigger on the inside, chameleon and perception filter circuits... if this Tardis is a hack job, it's impressive. And the ep is followed by a mystical high-tech prison. Call me a broken record, but I'm thinking of a name with four letters that starts with an 'R.' - Great question. Who could have a ship like that and why or how did it get there in the first place. I really want to know who's crashed/abandoned potential "TARDIS" that may be. I'm surprised the Doctor wasn't more concerned with how it got there and who had the technology to do that. Considering the Time Lords are (as far as we know) all out of existence or in the time lock of the time war except for the Doctor then who could have the technology to build something like that? That was the first question I had once he mentioned that someone was trying to build a TARDIS. I think that ship is too technologically advanced (considering the way it messed with time) for the Doctor to not question where it came from. V00D00M0NKY 06:38, June 14, 2010 (UTC)
- On top of everything else I was just thinking... Can something (are we assuming this actually is a TARDIS?) with a chameleon circuit put a temporary hole (stairs and a door) in a roof that people can walk right through? If there was a hole in the roof after it imploded that would be one thing but as far as I can recall, the roof was intact and the ship was on top of the roof. Non timelords have attempted to build tardises before,the only examples i can think of off hand are the sontarans in the two doctors and the dalek's DARDISes.--666hotline 10:16, June 14, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry but didn't the Doctor say his phsiology was too much for this 'TARDIS' and him (and by extension all timelords) touching it would have blown up the Solar System - doesn't this kind of rule out it being a timelord creation? - I'll also point out that in the new series alone, two characters had/were given crystals for growing TARDIS' - not that I think it's either of them, I just don't think it can be a timelord.80.0.209.79 23:20, June 14, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that it was a time lord who created it but considering the technology the Doctor should have questioned where it came from. It was powerful enough to stop his TARDIS from materializing. From his perspective that should be significant evidence for him to look further into where it came from. - Maybe since he knows that he will run into River around the time the Pandorica opens he is waiting to run into her. I'm not sure he has a clue yet as to where or when the Pandorica opens so really how can he go and fix it right away? V00D00M0NKY 20:32, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

I had a thought yesterday, seems really obvious now that I think about it. Perhaps the TARDIS was Jenny’s attempt to build one. She would be an amateur, she still exists in our part of the whoverse, and she was saved from death by Moffett and is bound to turn up again. MasterIII 15:19, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
Although I think the tardis - the doctor's tardis -probably has a pivotal role in this season's finale, it is also possible that this episode was more about laying down something for next season, with an upcoming or returning character being involved with it somehow. I think it just felt like a plot device to force Amy to stay away and allow the matey story and isn't really significant (now that's odd for me). It could be retconed in a later series but I don't think so. What was the original rationale for the comic strip. TARDIS matters.
1. I cannot find the thread where someone suggests the Finale Doctor will use the ship with the brakes off, to silently re-visit episodes, as demonstrated by River; but I noticed that they landed on Starship UK without any of the traditional noise.
2. River kills the best man she ever knew; we speculate that that might be the Doctor.
The auto-pilot for the lodger-Tardis reckons that its pilot is dead. Connection?
3. I cannot believe that the Doctor and the Master were the only Gallifreyans to seek escape from the LGTW. For the Time Lord civilisation trapped in the time lock, it would make sense to have a host of opportunistic Tardises ready to go, as soon as the planet appeared over the Earth, just on the off-chance that the Rassilon plan did not stick.
