Forum:Cast lists and gangers
I've started to see a certain disturbing trend with cast lists, mainly brought on by the appearance of the gangers in series 6. It needs to be re-iterated that story pages are out of universe. That's why there's a big banner running across the top saying "This article is written from the real world perspective". It's not written from an in-universe perspective. Thus, the cast list should be given exactly as it's given in the credits. We start down a slippery slope when we introduce our knowledge of the narrative into the cast list. When we find out the name of the Eye-Patch Lady, or the Little Girl, do we go back to their pre-named appearances and change the cast list? Of course not. Do we change Amy's name throughout this series? No. We go with how they're actually credited. Cast and crew lists should be reported as faithfully as they possibly can, because they're records of the episode as broadcast. Please see tardis:Format for television stories#Cast for more details.
I understand that people might be wanting to ensure that their articles about the gangers have a place of prominence in the story article, but this isn't the way to achieve it. Make sure the gangers are well linked in the plot summary, instead. But please keep the cast lists as close to the original, transmitted version as is possible.
