Could we please have a copyright template added along the lines of {{screenshot}} and {{Reeltime}}, which is applicable to material belonging to BBV Productions? I'm getting together some shots from BBV stuff and have noticed we don't have a BBV-specific template; as a result, most of the BBV screenshots we do have are mislabeled as BBC property or promo pics.

Could we also have an "Official site" variable added to {{Infobox Actor}}? We currently only have IMDb in the box; if we can wrap official sites, blogs, and so on into it as well we could really streamline the vast majority of external links that cast/crew pages require.

Cheers! Rob T Firefly 18:53, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

You should be aware that we've ruled much of BBV out of bounds for this wiki. Please be aware that a preceding forum discussion has ruled most of BBV's output out of order on this wiki. Almost the only thing left from their catalogue is the P.R.O.B.E. series. A template for BBV stuff was never, therefore, much of a priority. I will nevertheless make a template for BBV, but please be mindful of the preceding agreement to exclude BBV, in large part, from this wiki.

Thanks, CzechOut. I'm familiar with the canon policy and that discussion, and am of course only looking to work on what applies here. Rob T Firefly 03:45, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
Created as {{BBV screenshot}} and put into the licenses drop-down. (It's deliberately out of alphabetical order just to make sure no one accidentally chooses it instead of BBC screenshot.) The automatic category which arises has not, however, been properly stitched to category:screenshot, as we're currently experiencing difficulty putting new categories into established categories, effectively meaning we can't create a new category. Check back in a week or so to see if category:BBV screenshots is a child of category:screenshots. If not, feel free to make the attempt yourself.
I, or someone, will deal with the variable request on IA when we can. In the meantime, call the variable "official site" and begin adding it into infoboxes. That way, it'll be there to show up when we have time to activate it. Make the format of your entries simply the base web address, without the prepending "http://" or anything after .com. So, www.tardis.com not http://www.tardis.com/Main Page. Thanks for two great suggestions!

Neat! An additional thought regarding the "official site" links; there are people whose only official web presences are things like Facebook profiles or Twitter blogs rather than dedicated websites; i.e. Steven Moffat and his Twitter. Do you suppose things like this work labelled "official site" as well if they're the only thing around? If not, should yet another variable be put into Infobox Actor labelled "official blog" or something to accomodate them, or should they just be left outside the infobox in the "External Links" section as they are now? Rob T Firefly 06:18, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I was just going to leave this infobox thing for a while, but I changed my mind. I've added two variables, "official site" and "twitter". Not terribly happy with the visual design of the infobox, but then I'm not happy with any of them. These two variables should give you the flexibility you need out of an infobox. Not too sure there's a meaningful difference between an "official blog" and an "official site" — or at least, that difference can't be communicated in an infobox. Twitter, though, is obviously a bit different, so that made sense to add.
If you're working from external word processors, please update your offline template with the new variables. Note that capitalisation is important to variable names. Alternately, if you like using the preload system, the actor/crew preload has been updated, and these fixes are live now.
Thanks for shopping at Tardis-Mart. Please come again.

p.s. I notice that you put this request at template talk:Infobox Actor. Nothing wrong with that, of course. However, don't be afraid after you've used template talk to come here and sorta nudge us in the direction of the template talk. When it comes to the technical minutiae of template building, I'd actually prefer that workflow. That way, you can use this oft-visited space to announce requests, but the requests and subsequent debate would stay on the template. All development of that template would thus be in the one area. Note, for instance, the frantic activity at template talk:wales crew.

Duly noted. Thanks again, for everything! Rob T Firefly 09:13, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
