as some of you will know, I usually favor an anal approach to naming articles about stories. on-screen, the titles say Torchwood: Children of Earth: Day One or whatever. (BBC publicity used a similar format.) I propose that we do a rename to (example):

1) TV: Children of Earth: Day Two
2) TV: Children of Earth: Day Two.
3) TV: Day Two (the current option)

(apologies, by the way, if this has gotten discussed here before. I took a break so as not to get spoiled about the new Torchwood series.)

I personally favor Option 2--Stardizzy2 19:16, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

This is sort of in the same vein as The Trial of a Time Lord, which we deal with as separate stories with their own pages. Children of Earth like Trial is the over arching name of the season, whilst Day One etc are the individual names. I'm more for keeping what we've got at the moment referring to the episode titles as what they're called. --Tangerineduel 14:01, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I think Children of Earth functions much more as a continuous story, myself, versus Trial which splits more easily into four parts (never mind the number or individual episodes) or I wouldn't have suggested the change. (hope that doesn't sound too argumentative.)
anyway, do you favor option 1, 2 or 3?--Stardizzy2 19:09, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
The main concern I see is that it needs to be clear whether "Day One" will refer to Children of Earth or to the second episode of series 1. I like the way option 1 looks, but would it be clearer if the actual pages were named that as well? By which I mean, the page titles would be "Children of Earth: Day Whatever"? Perhaps Children of Earth: Day One might be an option, considering we do have two day ones.
Option 1 is good, however it may introduce complications and confusion with various editors not knowing the particular format for this.
Option 2 makes more sense and it is a style that is sometimes used with short story anthologies, so that would make some internal sense. Although sometimes for audio dramas that are adaptions of NAs the tunnelling is just left off so it would just be referenced as TV: Day One (Children of Earth) without anything else, which is also an option. This last option would mean the least amount of alterations (and also less confusion throughout our referencing system). --Tangerineduel 15:52, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I personally feel at that the links and associated pages need to be renamed "Children of Earth: Day X" rather than "Day X (Children of Earth)" for the simple reason that that is the name given on-screen. I haven't seen Trial of a Time Lord but I can't imagine that it was on the titles, hence the argument with regards to naming. In this case the episode title is clearly given the title of Children of Earth, and so we need to reflect that. Taccer 07 16:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

The Trial opening credits said Trial of a Time Lord, episode X, nothing else. (from the viewpoint of the production team and the novelisation, though, they split the season into four stories, though two of them shared the same production code.) --Stardizzy2 16:48, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I can see why the issue with Trial. But with CoE, there isn't that issue. It's not acceptable to put 'Children of Earth' in brackets as it's clearly part of the on-screen name. It's no different to the 'Part X' style of the classic serials. Taccer 07 16:57, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Alrighty, go ahead and move them to Children of Earth: Day X. --Tangerineduel 07:23, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
