Very rarely, production team members actually become part of the DWU, because they're written into fictional stories. Tom Baker, John Lucarotti and Sean Longcroft have all become part of the DWU, if in minor ways. So how best do we handle their fictional sides? Do we just do the reverse of an in-universe article and have a "Doctor Who universe" section at the bottom? Or do we create a wholly separate article for the fictional version? And if we create an article about the fictional side, wouldn't the fictional side then take precedence in the naming convention, so that we'd have Tom Baker for the fictional Baker and Tom Baker (actor) for the non-fictional side? But do we really want to be changing every instance of Tom Baker on this site, even with the help of a bot?

See, this is why the naming convention sucks. It should be "most common usage gets the undisambiguated name" rather than "in-universe usage gets the undisambiguated name". But I think I'm right, aren't I? If going strictly by the naming convention, we'd have to go with Tom Baker for the character and Tom Baker (actor) for the thousands of links already on the site. Wouldn't we?

No we don't want to change every single usage, in this instance. But I also don't want to swap around the Castrovalava and Frontios pages with their TV story counterparts.
In this instance they'd be disambigged with the story title. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:14, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
