Ambrosia

Ambrosia was an immortality-granting substance from Greek mythology.

It could be consumed by gods and their bloodlines, but not by ordinary humans, to whom it was toxic. When he returned to the mortal plane in the 21st century, one of the goals of the immortal calling himself Ichor was to experiment with ambrosia to make it non-toxic to humans. He was forced to sacrifice his own life in 2021 to stop the nefarious plans of the ghost with whom he'd made a deal to find his way back to the mortal plane, but hoped that the child he had sired with Sally shortly before his death would continue his work.
