The Battle of Mars, also known as the Battle for Mars, occurred in 2545, during the Second Dalek War. The Daleks seized control of Mars due to a failure to deploy Mars' nuclear deterrent. They bombarded Earth with biogenic weapons. They were driven off-world by a galaxy-wide alliance.
The 50th anniversary of the battle was recognised in 2595, also the 500th anniversary of Earth's colonisation of Mars. Bernice Summerfield observed that the battle was only the third war on Mars in a period of about 500 years, following the earlier Dalek invasion of Mars in 2157 and the Thousand Year War from 2086 to 2088, which she deemed a "pretty good tally" compared to Earth history.
