Bertha Baxter

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Bertha Baxter was a woman in the 20th century, who was about 50 years old in 1940.

In 1934, she moved into No.1 Gallows Gate Road and became a cook in the house. She would have liked to move to Bridport, Dorset, where her sister lived. There she wanted to keep a pig. However, she thought the people at Gallows Gate Road could never cope without her, so she did not leave.

An alien was hiding inside an oak tree next to the house. It took Bertha Baxter's ambition to leave the house.

The only resident of the house who was not affected by the alien was Robert Mann. Robert still hadn't decided what he wanted to be in life so the alien had no ambition to feed on. The Tenth Doctor told Robert that Robert was the only one who could cut down the tree. Robert did it and the other residents got back their ambition. Bertha Baxter said that she would leave Gallows Gate Road in January 1935 to go to her sister in Bridport. (PROSE: Number 1, Gallows Gate Road)
