- Reversible DVD sleeves enabled the collector to display one of two designs featuring either the Doctor and his enemies or his companions.

- Searching for the fourth segment of the Key to Time, the Fourth Doctor, Romana and K9 arrive on the seemingly peaceful planet of Tara. While the Doctor takes a day off to indulge in a spot of fishing, Romana gets herself captured by Count Grendel of Gracht, a local villain who plans to seize the throne of Tara. Why does the woman in the dungeon look like Romana? Will Prince Reynart make it through his coronation alive? And who exactly is George?

- The Androids of Tara is a sci-fi spin on Anthony Hope's 1894 classic novel The Prisoner of Zenda.
- Ember was a planet in the Horsehead Nebula with an exceptionally strong and unusual magnetic pull - and a danger to passing space traffic. The key to power on the colony planet in the 44th century lay with Kazran Sardick not its president.
- Actor Rory Jennings who played Tommy Connolly was living with his nan at the time in real life.
- On the human colony planet of Tara, nine-tenths of the population were wiped out by a devastating plague leading to a dependence on androids because of the massive shortage in labour.
