From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Entry 2481/B-3 was a short story which were published in the first issue of Doctor Who Weekly as part of The Doctor's Journal series. The story was accompanied by fully coloured illustrations which were meant to directly tie into transfers included with the first four issues of the magazine.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor lands on a Vorgan Space Platform, and the TARDIS is captured by the Vorgs as the Doctor escapes into the depths of the complex. The Doctor manages to steal a field generator, and uses this to deflect the Vorgs' laser blasts. Making his way back to the TARDIS, the Doctor is spotted by a squad of Vorgs who attempt to shatter the Doctor's force shield. At that very moment, a fleet of battle cruisers arrive and begin attacking the platform, as they seek to reclaim ships captured by the Vorgs. The ensuing chaos creates enough of a diversion for the Doctor to escape in the TARDIS.

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • A Vorgan guard falls asleep, allowing for the Doctor to nick their field generator.
  • The Vorgs utilise a Mobile Neutron Cannon to shatter the Doctor's shield.
  • The battle cruisers come through a white hole in order to arrive at the Space Platform.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The full colour illustrations, with transfers applied exactly where the guide suggests.
  • Being the frontispiece printed on the backside of the front cover, this is remarkable for not only being the first Doctor Who Magazine fiction in colour, but the first DWM fiction to ever have been printed.
  • Entries of The Doctor's Journal, even as early as Issue 1, were printed with blatant gaps in the artwork, where things like ships and even the Doctor were missing. This was done so that those elements could be printed as transfers, to be pinned to the page as suggested in the guide (written in-universe by the Doctor himself).
