- In real life, Gillian Anderson is well known for playing Dana Scully in the science fiction television series The X-Files. Although her character has been referenced by name several times in the Doctor Who universe, Anderson has not yet been identified as the actress who portrayed her.
- Anderson, starting in 2019, portrayed Jean Milburn in the acclaimed series Sex Education, alongside Ncuti Gatwa.
