Miss Haversham was a Meercock.
After the Valceans destroyed their homeworld, the survivors tried to settle on Earth. However, their mistaken research led them to adopting bodies and identities resembling fictional characters. Miss Haversham took the form of a character from Great Expectations. While trying to help her, Iris Wildthyme accidentally activated her teleport bracelet and transported them and the Third Doctor to the Meercock spaceship. (PROSE: Verdigris)
