Hemming (The Curse of Fenric)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Captain Hemming was the leader of a band of Vikings from Norway in the 10th century. His wife's name was Astrid.

He was a notorious pirate in his time, reviled by other Norsemen, ambushing the crew of a Swede named Oslaf returning from Constantinople, most of whom had lost their number to a curse travelling through Transylvania en route to Sweden. A mysterious flask they plundered soon began to inflict the curse upon Hemming and his crew. When he arrived in Northumbria, he claimed a girl named Ingelda as a concubine, and fathered on her a daughter named Wulfaga, since she had "the shining eyes of a wolf". He and his men settled at the site of the village where Maiden's Point was located, until the curse followed them once more to England. When his men had all seemingly perished, Hemming chose to sacrifice himself to save Ingelda and Wulfaga. They left the village while he buried his friends and the flask, and awaited his fate, which came. The story survived through oral tradition in Scandinavia and was eventually recorded in The Saga of Hrothulf when put to verse as a poem being told the lord by one of his skalds. (PROSE: The Curse of Fenric). He and his men buried the flask containing Fenric. They were either killed or converted by the Haemovores led by Ingiger which had followed the flask. (TV: The Curse of Fenric)

Wulfaga would go on to have a son named Ottar, who in turn begat a son, Horik, who fathered a daughter, Estrid. Estrid had a son, Sigvald, who fathered Hakon, who fathered Fridrek. Fridrek begat Wulfstan, who was the father of Eadric, who would have a daughter named Emma. Through Emma all these people were the ancestors of Joseph Sundvik through his mother, Florence. And through Joseph they were the ancestors of Ace, Audrey Dudman, Sorin, Judson, A. H. Millington and Wainwright. The names of this line from Wulfaga onwards were listed by the Ultima Machine, when Judson typed LET THE CHAINS OF FENRIC SHATTER, into it. (PROSE: The Curse of Fenric).
