Mam's council house
In the 1970s, Paul Magrs lived with his Mam in her council house on Burn Lane in Newton Aycliffe.
On Christmas Day, 1977, they had rushed downstairs so that Paul could open his presents. Over the next few years, he lived with his Mam in this house, and his father's flat, but he only considered his Mam's house a home. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)
In December, 1979, Paul and his Mam decorated the house to look Christmassy, with spray on snow, nutcrackers, and more. On Christmas Eve, Paul and his Mam watched various programmes on the telly, before Paul went to bed early so he sleep away the night to get to Christmas. On Christmas Day, Paul and his Mam went downstairs in the dark, and his Mam turned on the light as Paul entered the living room, to see that Santa Claus had filled it with Christmas presents, though Paul knew that his Mam had done all the hard work.
