Ogilvy was a notable 19th century astronomer.

He, along with George, were among the first to observe the Martians taking off from Mars to arrive on Earth. At first, he did not believe in intelligent extraterrestrial life, but when the Martians landed on Horsell Common, he and Henderson decided that they must be intelligent.
