By 2050, bodies of debris dislodged from Pluto and harbouring these such microbes arrived on Earth. They were salvaged by the Department. The specimens were stolen by Drake, who spliced them with yeast to create a monster, the Hunger. K9 burned his fuel cells to generate an electromagnetic field that reversed the Hunger's polarity and sucked them into his body. Although he had yet to dispose of them properly, they were rendered defenceless. (TV: Black Hunger)
