Ponti was a crew member on the Morestran probe ship sent to Zeta Minor in 37166 to make contact with Professor Sorenson's expedition.

Ponti was a member of Vishinsky's landing party, which discovered Sorenson and captured the Fourth Doctor before Controller Salamar, the commanding officer, landed. He found the desiccated corpse of O'Hara and reported this to his superior.
Ponti was sent to retrieve the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith after they were found by an oculoid. While attempting to search Sarah, he came into close proximity with a "pool" of anti-matter. Screaming in pain, he fell into it. (TV: Planet of Evil)
