Queen Anne Island was an island frequented by Doctor Philemon Smallcoate as he studied the native population. There was a local legend about an ancestor spirit - the tangaloa - with parts of many different sea creatures, and that certain humans once lived in the ocean prior to developing the tools to live on land.
