Race to the Golden Emperor was a narrative board game set in the Doctor Who universe, printed in Terry Nation's Dalek Annual 1979.

The game was notable for involving the Golden Emperor (as featured in TV Century 21 and in earlier Dalek annuals) as well as the Annual's overarching story of a war between the Dalek Empire and the Anti-Dalek Force: the Emperor was not featured in any of the other original stories in the book, which, absent this game, would have made ambiguous the matter of whether they even took place in a time when the Golden Emperor was the head of the Empire. It was also one of the most prominent use of the name "Golden Emperor" in an official source: the character, in the 1960s comics, was principally known as simply "the Dalek Emperor".

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

In an "all-out battle" between Anti-Dalek Force agents and a Dalek special squad, the Dalek Emperor's spaceship is downed on a rocky island in the middle of a howling sea on an unidentified planet. ADF agents attempting to capture the most valuable prisoner of all, and Daleks eager to rescue their leader, race through the inhospitable terrain to get to the Emperor first — having to deal not only with power failures and sea monsters, but also with the Emperor himself, who opens indiscriminate fire on everyone who comes near his position!
