- While his forename wasn't stated in World Game [+]Loading...["World Game (novel)"] or A Funny Turn [+]Loading...["A Funny Turn (short story)"], the character's full name is Richard Sharpe, the titular character from Sharpe and its subsequent ITV television series adaption.
- The television series starred Michael Cochrane as Sir Henry Simmerson, David Troughton and Hugh Fraser as Arthur Wellesley, Brian Cox as Major Michael Hogan, Kerry Shale as James Rothschild, Tim Bentinck as Captain John Murray, David Ashton as Major Lennox, James Purefoy as Captain Jack Shears, Christopher Villiers as Colonel Horace Bampfylde, Elizabeth Hurley as Lady Isabella Farthingdale, Alice Krige as La Marquesa de Casares el Grande y Melida Sadaba, Hugh Ross as Major Mungo Munro, John Benfield as General Jean-Baptiste Calvet, Caroline Langrishe as Lady Anne Camoynes as Alexander Armstrong as Lord John Rossendale.
