Sepoy Mutiny

The Sepoy Mutiny was one of the major events during which Colonel Malcolm Fraser, who served in the British Empire's Indian Army between 1829 and 1885, earned a degree of fame. He especially emerged with "considerable glory" from the siege of Lucknow. (GAME: The Iytean Menace [+]Loading...{"namedpart":"","1":"The Iytean Menace (game)"})

Behind the scenes[[edit]]

The name of "Sepoy Mutiny" reflects the majority perspective of Victorian London, the setting of The Iytean Menace. Modern historiography tends to avoid perspectives on the event which paint it as simply a mutiny of native soldiers, viewing it as a genuine attempted rebellion or revolt against British rule.

Although the text of The Iytean Menace is ambiguous, the Siege of Lucknow in the real world was very much a part of the "Sepoy Mutiny", not a distinct event.
