Shoeburyness was a location on the bank of the River Thames. After a German bomber dropped a magnetic mine in the Thames Estuary on 22 November 1939, it became trapped on the extensive sands around Shoeburyness. It was recovered by the British Admiralty the on the afternoon of 23 November. (AUDIO: The Oncoming Storm)
