Captain Edward Mears, also known as Ted, was a UNIT captain. He showed Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and Veronica Holmes their new technology.[which?] He told the Fifth Doctor that UNIT was trying to be more undercover. His squad was an experimental unit to deal with invasions. He was attacked by one of the Auton masks. He was shot by the Tremas Master. (AUDIO: The Auton Infinity)
