Teresa was followed home by Li H'sen Chang one day in 1889. He confronted her as she was about to enter a house and hypnotised her into accompanying him to the Palace Theatre.
Chang intended to use a catalytic extraction chamber to distill Teresa's life for Magnus Greel. Leela found Teresa in the theatre and, as she was unresponsive, took her clothes and dressed in them, putting Teresa in a wardrobe.
When she woke, Teresa was confronted by Casey, who attempted to hurry her out of the building. She saw Chang's face on a poster and quickly left of her own accord, fleeing in fear. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)

- Teresa is never referred to by name in the on-screen dialogue, and only her first name is given on the closing credits of The Talons of Weng-Chiang part three. Her surname is given only in Terrance Dicks's novelisation.
- Although never mentioned as such on-screen, Teresa is described in the script for part three as being "a lady of the night" — i.e. a prostitute. (PROSE: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)
