Testament of Cresseid

Testament of Cresseid was a work written by Robert Henrysoun.

It was mentioned by the Prologue, who was based upon the First Doctor, in a variant version of William Shakespeare's play Troilus and Cressida. He claimed to have met Henrysoun and questioned him as to why the poor girl had to die in such a nasty way, opining that the scars of leprosy which were visited upon Cresseid as punishment were for faults he believed were not her own. However, Henrysoun's mind was set.

Testament of Cresseid was the first version of a Trojan War-related tale the Prologue had encountered, predating his experiences with Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida, and a film screened in Cinemascope.
