The Ashikaga were a Japanese clan who fought in the Battle of Minatogawa against imperial forces in Kyoto in 1336. (COMIC: Return of the Volsci) Kyoto was eventually captured by the Ashikaga, beginning the Muromachi period of Japanese history. (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac)
