British Academy of Sporting Excellence
The British Academy of Sporting Excellence (or BASE) was a training ground located in the United Kingdom in the 21st century. Gifted athletes trained for the Globe Games there. Among the students there were Emma, a swimmer; Sid, a javelin thrower; Karl, a sprinter; Jess, a long-jumper; Holly, a gymnast; and Jimmy, a hurdler.
A Rutan killed Emma and took her place with the intent of starting a war on Earth by causing an incident at the Global Games. It was forced to kill the athletes who discovered its true identity. The other athletes covered up the deaths so they could continue training. Later, a group of Sontarans from the Twelfth Sontaran Battle Fleet, led by Major Stenx, arrived in search of the Rutan. They forced the athletes to compete against each other in order to assess human speed and strength, with the losers killed or fed to Sontar sand shrews. The Tenth Doctor defeated the Sontarans, Stenx and the Rutan killed each other, and BASE was destroyed in an explosion. (PROSE: The Sontaran Games [+]Loading...["The Sontaran Games (novel)"])
