Young Bernice Summerfield is off to another boarding school. This one's on the watery planet Mal Oreille, whose native flora and fauna have a unique mimicry ability. Fascinated as Benny is with lessons, she's even more fascinated when her fellows start changing, all around her... becoming more... docile.
