Chrono-warp engines were rudimentary and temperamental time machines which left scorch marks when used. Teeja and Bourakai used two stolen ones to travel back to 2020 to kill the Eighth Doctor, who wondered if Mr Bird had used the same technology. (AUDIO: Divine Interventions)
