Clio's mother attended every one of Clio's birthdays until she died.
When Clio turned five, she was poisoned by her Uncle Ferdand on behalf of his son Malvek, ruler of Dolmara. The First Doctor put Clio into stasis, and she was woken every year. Whenever Clio awoke, her mother was there, but Clio wondered why her mother seemed to get older every time she saw her.
The last time that Clio woke, the Eighth Doctor took her to see that her mother had died. (PROSE: The Glass Princess)
