The counterculture movement of the 1960s was a reaction to the attitudes of the 1950s. The espoused worldwide peace, free love and equal civil rights for all peoples.

The Combine saw the counterculture movement as a threat to the security of the United States. They distributed Blue Moonbeams to discredit and ultimately eliminate it. (PROSE: Wonderland)
