In 1963, rumours spread by Coal Hill School students suggested that novels by Dennis Wheatley might be kept in the "library" that was the Staff Common Room, after having been confiscated. - When writing Operation: Hellfire, Jonathan Barnes originally considered making the story a "celebrity historical" centred around Dennis Wheatley. Ultimately, he opted to create a fictional writer in Wing Commander Douglas Quilter instead, who was "Wheatley-esque". (BFX: Operation: Hellfire)
