Forum:Similar openings in Doctor Who
I've noticed that quite a few openings in Doctor Who use the same kind of scene. In Rose, The Christmas Invasion and The Eleventh Hour (those are only the ones I can think of, there might be more) they all start with a shot of the moon, then pan to the Earth and zoom in to a particular place; for Rose it is to the Powell estate and Rose's alarm clock, in The Christmas Invasion it is to the Powell estate again but this time to Jackie decorating a Christmas tree, and in The Eleventh Hour it is to the clouds and then the TARDIS hurtling through the sky. As well as the similar visual opening, they also use the first few notes of the song All the Strange. Should this be noted and how could we note this in the continuity sections? - Rose and The Christmas Invasion could be a Executive Producer (EP) choice to mimic the same opening, but with The Eleventh Hour that doesn't really hold true, unless Moffat is deliberately mimicking the previous style.
- Yes, it should be noted in the continuity section that all three stories share the same opening aesthetic (or something).
- I'd also suggest trying to find a link between those three, whether it was just an EP choice or was it something the Mill went with or a stylistic choice that came from somewhere else.
- The opening sequence of The Eleventh Hour looks and sounds much like RTD's era than any of Moffat's stories, so it's very likely it was a stylistic choice to mimic it. (Hopefully when the DVD/blu-ray comes out the commentary will enlighten us). --Tangerineduel 14:40, August 12, 2010 (UTC)
