Mesothelae

Mesothelae, also known as Giant Arachnids or Megarachnids and described as "big giant spiders", were a primitive order of spiders, measuring almost a metre across. The Giant Arachnids, while not as big as the Racnoss, were bigger than dogs and dining tables. Unlike modern spiders, they lacked venomous bites or spinnerets and so they could not make webs.

Giant Arachnids did have huge jaws to bite their prey, and hunted by pursuing or ambushing smaller creatures. Despite their horrific appearance and alarming size, a lone Megarachnid posed little danger to a grown human. However, the creatures did operate in swarms of hundreds.
