The Discussions module debuted in 2016 — mainly as a benefit to the people the Doctor Who app on mobile devices. It was partially a response to the poor experience mobile users had of our forums.

However, it was not meant as solely a mobile feature. It was also swiftly made available to desktop users. It quickly generated a significant number of posts, mostly from people who had never signed up for a user account at Wikia. As of July 2016, there is little crossover between wiki editors and Discussions users, but it's hoped that the new users will start to edit the wiki itself.

Because local rules generally prevail over Wikia-written ones, our discussion policy — and not the one found in-app — is the main guideline (but not the only one) that governs the use of Discussions.

Basically, though, there are only four main things to remember:

  • Be nice to others
  • Stay on topic
  • Don't spoil upcoming stories, even by talking about seemingly official cast and crew announcements. (What's a spoiler at Tardis? Probably not what you think. So read this.)
  • Don't give information about how to illegally obtain DWU stories. (As of July 2016, there's no free, legal way to download or stream Doctor Who in the US, so American users of Discussions are advised to simply not answer those kinda questions.)
