Fernando Cortez of Spain arrived in Mexico with his conquistadores in 1519. According to Barbara Wright, Cortez saw the wealth of the Aztecs cities in Mexico, along with their acts of ritual human sacrifice, and his actions led to the complete destruction of Aztec civilisation.
