I was thinking that the Time War flashback scenes in the 50th special (assuming there are some, which I am) could be a good opportunity to feature previous characters, given its place in the mythology of the show. They couldn't necessarily have a major role in it, but could still appear. For example, Derek Jacobi could appear as the Master during a scene set by the Cruciform, and Timothy Dalton could reprise Rassilon. Plus, we could have Colin Baker as Maxil, not the Doctor. Some of the general audiences might not know who that is, but he wouldn't be important to the plot, so it wouldn't matter. Of course, McGann could also be thrown in there as well. I know Moffat's only including elements if there's a place for them in the narrative, (or at least he says that), but surely if we're seeing the Time War, it's always possible. But the question is: should it happen, and might it happen? Gallifrey102 11:08, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Actually about that: Christopher Eccleston refused to return. Sylvester McCoy has claimed that none of the surviving actors who portrayed the Doctor prior to Eccleston have been contacted regarding the special. Colin Baker confirmed this while being interviewed on Australian television alongside McCoy and Paul McGann. However, McGann went on to say that he could still be in the 50th but at the last moment. There are rumors that a Doctor from the classic era will feature in the special. Costume designer Howard Burden said that John Hurt's character is a "dark Doctor" existing between the Eighth and Ninth Doctors, so hopefully the mystery behind the Eighth Doctor’s regeneration is finally explained in the Special… The preceding unsigned comment was added by 92.15.141.209 (talk).

Well they would say that, wouldn't they? Gallifrey102 10:28, August 26, 2013 (UTC)
