Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The ice planet Uraniture seems to have claimed its fifth pair of surveyors in three years. This is the feeling prevailing at the World Ministry of Planet Surveying at the news from Fireball XL5 of the mysterious disappearances of Bentley and Estermil while mapping the planet.
- The first expedition to Uraniture in 2062 ended when both of the men disappeared two hours after landing. Subsequent missions in the same year, 2063 and early 2064 ended in the same way.
- Colonel Steve Zodiac has been sent to "unravel the mystery" of the disappearances.
- A radioactive dust cloud is threatening the Dalek planet of Skaro. The news flashed to the Universe after radio station N92 intercepted an urgent call from the Black Dalek to the Dalek Emperor.
- The science correspondent reports that if the rust has been exposed to Beta-Gamma rays, it could destroy a Dalek in no time.
