Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Although not identified as Karl Dönitz, the character of Donitz is intended to be the real world German admiral of this name.
- In the real world, Hitler named Dönitz as Reich President of Germany and Joseph Goebbels as Chancellor of Germany, dividing the position of Führer into two following his death. In the DWU, the position in which Donitz succeeded Hitler has not been stated.
- Karl Dönitz was among the senior Nazis tried at the Nuremberg trials. He was found guilty on two of the three charges against him and sentenced to ten-years' imprisonment. While the Nuremberg trials have been mentioned in the DWU, Dönitz has not been mentioned to have been a defendant.
