(Redirected from Lord Cranleigh)

Marquess of Cranleigh was a title bestowed upon the son of a companion of Sir Walter Raleigh. The female equivalent was Marchioness of Cranleigh.

The Marquess lived at Cranleigh Hall in Oxfordshire, which was used to hide priests and as a refuge for the Royalists, including King Charles and Prince Rupert. By the 1920s, Madge Cranleigh was dowager Marchioness and George was the ninth Marquess until his apparent death, upon which Charles became the tenth.
