By some accounts, the northern continent of Skaro was the original home of the Kaleds. Alongside Southern Skaro, it was one of the planet's two continents. It had a largely jungle landscape. History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the early millennia of Skaro, Northern and Southern Skaro were connected. Circa -1,030,000 TL (equivalent to 1,100,709 BC), the first hominids evolved on the combined continents of Skaro. By -190,000 TL (260,709 BC), sapient humanoids had evolved in all parts of Skaro's continents.

In -2000 TL (72,709 BC), the Great Disaster occurred, splitting the two continents. In the era afterwards, the now-isolated modern Skarosians who remained on Northern Skaro began to develop in a different direction to the Southern Skarosians, eventually becoming the Kaleds. They lived a nomadic hunter/gatherer lifestyle. The jungles of the continent protected the Kaleds from cosmic radiation.

In 50,000 TL (20,709 BC), the Kaleds mastered agriculture and used the protection of their continent to develop intelectually.

In 62,000 TL (8709 BC), the Kaleds began venturing beyond the continent into Skaro's seas. (PROSE: "Time Line of Dalek History" [+]Part of The Daleks, Loading...{"namedep":"Time Line of Dalek History","1":"The Daleks (reference book)"})

In 66,300 TL (4408 BC), oceanic exploration led to the Kaleds encountering the Thals of Southern Skaro. (PROSE: The Dalek Problem [+]Loading...["The Dalek Problem (novel)"]) Northern Skaro, seen by Thals as the "New Land", became the centre of Skarosian culture, with the Thals migrating there. For the next thousand years, the Thousand Year War was fought on this continent, leading to its jungles becoming petrified. From the Thousand Year War onwards, all the notable events on Skaro occurred on the Northern continent, with it being home to the Kaled Dome, Thal Dome, and the Wastelands during the war and afterwards being home to the Dalek City.
