Primary Cressida document

The Primary Cressida document, published by Mysteria Press in 2973 as The Primary Cressida Document - Suppressed Texts of the Vatican Library, was the name given by later scholars to a diary kept by Vicki Pallister after she adopted the name Cressida and left the Doctor's company to live in the 13th century BC with Troilus. With the Secondary Cressida document, it formed the Cressida Manuscripts.

Vicki wrote at length about how she adapted to living in the past having grown up in the future, speaking of her homes and childhood in Liverpool and New London as well as using her knowledge of history to inform her decisions such as avoiding the Holy Land as a place to settle down. She also considered when and if she should discover advancements such as plumbing and electricity, noting she did not wish to mess up things like the Monk did and that she had not really paid attention to the order the stories in history books had happened in.

Vicki also used the diary to keep a record of her travels around Turkey with Troilus and his friends, using goats' hides to write down each entry. On one occasion she described how one of their herdsmen had seen the TARDIS arrive in a neighbouring valley and her reunion with the Doctor, who she believed was a younger version from around forty years before they first met, as well as the fact they had invited him and his friends to stay for tea that night. In her next entry, Vicki noted her embarrassment that the Doctor had in fact turned out to be an older version, only with a new face for some reason, with his female friend being his latest companion and the little boy being William Shakespeare. Vicki wrote that she and Shakespeare had a "lovely" chat about Dido, Aeneas and their respective scrapes with the Daleks, with Shakespeare advising that she and Troilus should settle in England as he had read a book detailing that relatives of Aeneas were the first Britons. She stated her belief that Troilus would like it in England and claimed that they thought the Doctor had been persuaded too, with Vicki reflecting it would be "smashing" if she was one of her own ancestors.
