Ransome (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Claws of Axos) was a radar operator, and was the senior of the two radio operators who first detected Axos.

Ransome thought the object was a comet, but when it changed course, his junior colleague Harry said it couldn't be a comet.
Ransome later informed Chinn that he had a call from the Minister. (TV: The Claws of Axos)

- The character's name Ransome derives from Terrance Dicks's novelisation of the story.
- David G. Marsh is credited together with Michael Walker as "Radar Operators" in Radio Times for episode one, and as "Second Radar Operator" (original published credit) in the programme listing for episode two.
