The Scythias were a slug-like species native to an Earth-like planet. They shared their world with a humanoid species which whom they were at war.

The Scythias were aware of the humanoid prophecy which spoke of a small, pale creature which would be sent by the god Otinogg to lead them in battle. When the humanoid leader Ziita declared Jamie McCrimmon the one of whom the prophecy spoke, Jamie instead fled into the desert, where he nearly became caught in the crossfire of the battle with the Scythias, whose physical appearance he found revolting.
