A Simulacrum (plural: Simulacra) was a copy made in the likeness of something else.

On the planet Mercator, the simulacrum was an elaborate virtual reality created by Felman Shazarel. Death Incorporated, led by Shazarel, bought orphans and integrated them into the Simulacrum, telling them that the simulated high-tech ultracity was real. The children were raised in the Warrior Cast and trained in the Academy to become highly trained assassins. Unbeknowst to those within the simulation, they were regularly hired out by Death Incorporated for assassination missions. Shazarel kept the illusion of 'reality' within the Simulacrum, telling the assassins that their missions were simluated training modules, when in fact the assassins were being removed from the matrix and then reintegrated upon completion of their mission.

Upon discovering this, Vienna Salvatori used a deceased assassin's immersion pod to infiltrate the Simulacrum using his avatar, and used her ship's computer to enter the simulation as her. She faked her own death within the system and allowed herself to implant a false memory of Shazarel murdering the parents of each assassin within them, causing them to want him dead. When Shazarel was dead, she shut down the Simulacrum, closed Death Incorporated and got all assassins off-world to start their new lives. (AUDIO: Deathworld)

The Dalek Dome used simulacra of genuine Daleks to bring their amusement park to life. Powered by genuine captured Dalek mutants, these simulacra believed themselves to be genuine Daleks but could not survive in the normal universe. (COMIC: Liberation of the Daleks)

As part of their recreation of The War of the Worlds, the Master created a simulacrum of 19th century London on Planetoid 50, even abducting inhabitants of London, such as Jessamy Moore and the Paternoster Gang to populate the city. (AUDIO: The Martian Invasion of Planetoid 50)
